Brought To You By The Letters "E" and "W", and By The Number "2"

Things Gosling doesn't (or does, but only partially) digest:
  • peas
  • corn
  • carrot
  • broccoli
  • olives
  • sultanas (golden raisins)
  • pumpkin
I can understand all except the pumpkin, considering it's well and truly mushed up when she eats it.

Ok. I'm done. You can go eat now.

Not so sure about the chublet..

The good part about having a roly-poly baby is that you know you don't have a problem with your milk supply.

The bad part comes when the the evidence of all that milk is expelled and you have to unfold roll upon roll on the legs to make sure its all clean...

Roll upon roll upon roll upon roll... her legs look like stacking rings.

And this would be why I hate summer..

Weatherwise, we don't have it too bad over here in Sydney. We had a couple of shocker days, and had to take iceblocks to bed one night, but its calmed down, and while it's still far hotter than I would like, it's now nothing like the south, where poor Lizzie has been melting away (my mother lives there too, and is still walking over 1km - about 3/4 mile - each way to and from work every day, because there are apparently no taxis).

But we have something Lizzie hasn't mentioned for a while.

As I was putting away the dishes from the drying rack yesterday (we do not have a functional dishwasher, everything is washed by hand and left in the drying rack on the counter to dry), I noticed some movement out of the corner of my eye. There were so many dishes it was hard to see what was going on, but as I cleared more and more away, it became apparent exactly what I was seeing.

The chopping board evidently hadn't been cleaned as thoroughly as we thought, because IT WAS COVERED IN ANTS. They were running around all over it, congregated mostly in one spot, which is where I'm assuming it got washed the least.

So I picked it up and dumped it in the sink, running hot water over it until I couldn't see any little writhing black bodies any more. Then I took everything off the counter, got out my can of bug spray, and I sprayed the heck out of the entire area. And the windowsill, where they all tried to flee to, and where I found another gazillion of the nasty little things.

And then I washed everything. Again. Twice.

I don't care about the water restrictions, THERE WERE ANTS ON MY DISHES!!!!!!!!!

dizzy dizzy dizzy

i was supposed to go in to the hypertension clinic at the hospital today for a checkup. had to reschedule it for next week, because when i got up this morning the whole world started to spin.

spinning is normal in my world. theres a decent chance that my world will go momentarily dark, my hearing dim, my head get hot, and the world start leaning, EVERY TIME i stand up. im used to it. what im NOT used to is when the leaning/spinning world hangs around. all day ive been feeling as if im standing on an angle . when im sitting down, it feels as if the chair is rising slowly.

and its a fair walk from the bus stop to the hospital.. i didnt think i could make it. so i rescheduled my appointment, and went in to the doctor.

either im suffering from vertigo, or i have a urinary infection. with no other symptoms. other than the fact that i have the pee a million times a day - but im pregnant. thats normal.

ugh. im to take it easy for the next few days, and go back to the doctor on friday to check how i am, and see if i do in fact have an infection - in which case i get antibiotics.

JOY.

am i ever glad thats over.

well this morning i had the dreaded blood test. FUN. one vial, drink goo, wait an hour, another vial, wait another hour, 3rd vial, EAT. i was sooo hungry by the end of it. i had dinner at about 7 last night, and between then and the beginning of the test around 8:30, i had 1 glass of water. and then i didnt get to eat till around 11ish after getting to the shops from the pathology lab.

and THEN, the kid had to have his 4 year immunisations. one in each arm. oh the screaming. and the crying. and the big brave boy. but he got jelly beans. so he wasnt too bad. and then we went to the chemist so i could get myself some bandaids that will hopefully stick for longer than 10minutes (i have bandaid repellent skin. bandaid brand usually works, everything else falls off really quick), so i got him some chocolate to cheer him up, and got myself some too.... now i have to keep an eye on him for fever and rashes and blah blah blah. he seems ok at the moment though.

and now im watching sinbad for the zillionth time.

i will be glad when today is over.

tomorrow we get to go to a car show.

that will be INFINITELY better than three bloodtests and two injections. and the zillionth viewing of sinbad.

all the pretty cars..... that we will never be able to afford.

but so preeeeeeeeeeeettyyyyyyyyyyyy...

go go SUPERCARB!!!!!

on friday, i have to have a blood test done. a glucose tolerance test, to be exact. no eating or drinking from midnight, test at 8:30am, and im guessing its going to be one of those 'drink this sugary goo and wait an hour for another test' ones. all to check f i have gestational diabetes, i think.

i dont know why this time i have to do a different test than i did last time...

last time it was just drink the goo and take the blood. this time, i have to eat a ridiculously carb filled diet for 3 days before i take the test. AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY. why arent i doing the same test i did last pregnancy? the same test all the other women in the hospital seem to be doing? i have an appointment with my doctor this afternoon, and i'll ask her then. it just seems a bit.. odd. maybe its because my pre-pregnancy weight was higher this time round so im already at more risk? i dont know. i dont get it.

but anyway. the diet.

im not sure how im going to be able to do it. i have to have 11 serves of carb each day, for three days. thats about 5 more than i currently have, since vegetables, fruit, and fruit juice count. I DONT KNOW HOW I CAN EAT THAT MUCH. not that much carb, necessarily, but that much food. unless i decide to drink juice all day instead of water. that will help.

or maybe i can have a bread sandwich - bread between two slices of bread, instead of cheese or ham, or vegemite etc. its a bit boring, but i can shake it up a little and put raisin toast between two slices of wholemeal for the taste difference. or maybe bread cut up small and wrapped in a tortilla. or a cereal sandwich. crunch crunch. (actually.. thats reminded me of something delicious.. sultana-bran in cheese on toast.. put plastic cheese - processed cheese slices of some sort - on a piece of bread, and put it under the grill til it starts to bubble up and go crispy. then poke a hole in it and fill with sultana bran. yum.... i think i know what im having for lunch.....)

i can leave the meat out of dinner and have bread instead. bread, potatoes/rice and veg, instead of lamb/beef/chicken, potatoes/rice and veg. with orange juice instead of milk. hey! i can use orange juice on my cereal in the mornings instead of milk! i can use orange juice in my pasta sauce instead of cream! and bread chunks instead of bacon and mushrooms.

im making a big dish of potato bake tonight, and will try to force down as much as possible, and then have more tomorrow.. and i'll make sure and eat extra carrots with dinner. but oh man.. i am going to be so FULL. i just dont eat that much. which is probably why at 22 1/2 weeks, ive gained probably around 5kg. and most of that in the last 4 weeks.

any other suggestions for stuffing myself full of carbs without getting so full i feel sick? cause even with all these appetizing ideas ive come up with, i dont think i reach a total of 11.

enough with the green goo already!

everyone in my house is oozing greenish goo. mm.... yummy. even the cat. DELICIOUS!

i have some horrible cold thingy thats trying very hard to descend into my chest - and i think its winning. ive definitely been coughing up blech. hubby has also got whatever i have but since he is A MAN and therefor NOT PREGNANT, he can take wonderful-deliciously-life-saving-cold-and-flu-tablets to ease his suffering, while i have to cope with panadol only. which is helping a lot with the headaches and stiff neck, but not so much with the dripping nose, feverless-fever-type-chills, and coughing.

or with the fact that i still gag every time i cough, and have lost my appetite, so im constantly hungry and constantly feel sick anyway.

and then theres my critterbug, who is reminding us all of why some of his first nicknames were booger, and snotface. because as well as the continually dripping nose, he now has oozing eyes!!! isnt that fun! we have conjunctivitits in my house, and its GREEN. very green. its starting to turn yellow now, after a day of eyedrops, but it was approximately the colour of a daffodil stalk the other day.

and then theres the cat. ok, so i lied, the can isnt oozing green. he's oozing BROWN. one of his eyelids has decided to fold in, and the hair rubs on his eye, irritating it, causing goo to form, and he actually developed an ulcer ON HIS EYE a few weeks ago. that heald, thankfully, but the goo remains, and likely will for the rest of his life. which i dont know how long that will be, since he's 12. but the brown eye goo, it is so much fun. i ADORE stumbling into the kitchen half awake in the morning to make my son breakfast, only to find ive stepped in something cold and slimy - evidence the cat has been shaking his head. i also love it when he refuses to shake his head and i have to pin him down while hubby gets a wet cottonball and wipes the goo out, and then squeezes antibiotic gel in. wouldnt be so hard if was a decent size, but the cat weighs nearly 10kg (20lb) and he is not fat. he is BIG. he can almost look onto the kitchen counter if he stands on his hind legs. 10kg of nothing-but-muscle-cat is hard to pin down, believe me.

im just hoping all the green is gone in a few days and we are left with only the brown. i can cope with the brown - have been coping for over a year. but the green makes us all miserable, and im not in a condition to deal with it.
